Health and Safety Representative (HSR)

Calibre Training and Development is an approved Provider of Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training in Queensland, by Office of Industrial Relations - Queensland Government (WHSQ).  Our selected trainers of this program have been assessed and approved by the Office of Industrial Relations as a specialist in this field with extensive industry knowledge and experience.

The requirement of a Health and Safety Representative in Queensland is to undertake a course of training as outlined in the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act).  The WHS Act provides the HSR training must be provided through a course of training as approved by the Department.

From 1 February 2019, all HSRs must undertake the required training within three months of their election.  Existing HSRs who have not already completed the training must complete the training within the required period.  If a worker chooses not to undertake the training within the time period, they will no longer be eligible to fulfill the role of HSR an dwill need to be replaced.

There are two training options dependant on your circumstances:

HSR - 5 Day Course

Initial five day training course for newly elected HSRs and Deputy HSRs.

  • Roles of HSR and Deputy HSRs
  • PCBUs role
  • Inspections
  • Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs)

HSR - 1 Day Refresher Course

One day refresher course to be undertaken at least every three years, beginning three years after completion of the initial training (5 Day Course).
